Random SGA Thoughts
14 Jan 2006 15:19It's election time in Canada, and I found myself wondering about if and/or how the citizens of Atlantis would vote. there's at least seventeen countries involved (Australia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Mozambique, Philippines, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States that I know of) so it's an issue they probably have to deal with regularly. Now they can't send elections officers out, so it must work on some sort of mail in ballot system. How do the parties get their platforms out? Maybe they just send out copies of their websites. For that matter, how do the Atlantians keep track of anything that's going on back on Earth. Does the SGC include electronic copies of some of the major news papers. I know that the SGC lives in it's own little world where the American military is a kind and benevolent force, but what about censorship? If you can get the The Wall Street Journal can you also get Z Magazine?
Sheppard's hair is a topic of my fanish amusement and, on occasion, derision. I was willing to go with either the hair gel or the it's naturally like that theories until I hit "Epiphany," where upon I was forced to change my mind. ( Spoilers for said ) My new theory is that some time early in season one, Sheppard and McKay wereplaying experimenting with some random Ancient device and permanently stuck it like that. Now his hair will not change no matter what he does.
I think there may be something strange about the water surrounding Atlantis, maybe it is more dense or contains a different element or something. It would explain how they were able to hide a fully powered flying city while under siege. Even if they sank it and moved it, they weren't that far under water, and the Wraith should have been able to find them.
These issues will never be addressed on the show, I'm sure, but they're interesting to think about.
