The log jam in James bay from which I was watching the battle. I say next to a couple of young girls, lent the my binos, and answered questions like "If it's not a real fight, how come the cannons make so much noise?"

Looking east to the harbour mouth and the cruise ship pier at Ogden Point.

The particpants (left to right): the brig Lady Washington, the top-sail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain, and the top-sail schooner Lynx.

The Lynx and the Hawaiian Chieftain circle each other.

Later, the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftaindo the same.

While the Lynx takes a shot a the top-sail schooner Amazing Grace.

Then sits at rest for a while. There really wasn't enough wind for a proper battle. Oh well, perhaps tomorrow night.

Date: 29 Jun 2008 08:10 (UTC)Only too happy to oblige. :D Thank you so much for these great shots. I loved how first Lynx and Hawaiian Chieftain circle each other and second when Lynx takes a shot on Amazing Grace. The people in tiny Lynx are really not afraid of the bigger sails. So like a post-captain of our acquaintance!*g*
You were in a very good position for those shots. Thanks again

As you say, what does one expect from a pirate. Still, the photos are wonderful. I'll be waiting.
