I've run out of Authority and am feeling a little sad about that.

So Amy Reader's leaving Batwoman due to "real creative differences." Well done, DC. Now you're back to two women working for you. It's too bad, as I thought she was doing a great job, and while I like Trevor McCarthy okay, I don't think he has her talent (he's the kind of guy I'd be happy to see on a lot of books, just not this one).

In happier news, two of my favourite people in comics, Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Noto, are teaming up for a book about a female hero. Who I've never heard of, but she looks interesting, and it's a reboot, so I should be golden.

And someone's getting married over in Liu's X-Men title. In that the solicit for the previous month reads, "When Kyle is put in danger, will Northstar choose him or his team? Don’t miss the end of this issue – it’ll be the most talked about moment of the year!" I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's Jean Paul and Kyle tying the knot. Also known as Marjorie Liu Writes a Gay Wedding: See Also, Why Marvel Loves Me!

Speaking of Liu, got The Storyteller in hard cover the other day, and would rec it highly if you enjoy fun twists on fairy tales. It's aimed at younger audiences, but I am enjoying it very much.

No. Apollo and the Midnighter aren't married any more, and when they were, it wasn't a DC title.

Unless someone else gets married before then, I think we're currently at zero, and possibly on with Jean Paul and Kyle in the summer.

I hope they get married again, but as they've only just met, I think it may be a few years. I <3 them so much though.

Yeah, I guess they have to develop the relationship. Any word from the top if they're going to canon ship them, at least?

Paul Cornell (who is no longer on the title, but relaunched it) said he was considering making a shirt that said "They're still gay!"

There has been some subtle ship stuff already, that I've quite liked. I'll have to reread now that I have the whole arc and more context.

Huh, "Ghost!" I remember her from the 90s. She always looked like a character that would have been really cool to read about if her costume wasn't unzipped to her bellybutton...

I don't think I've ever read any Darkhorse. Phil Noto is consistently good at drawing women like actual human beings, and the new costume designs don't look too bad,* so I'm hopeful.


*It's possible that too many years of reading Black Widow have made me slightly immune to random cleavage.

Yeah, I remember her as part of the big cheesecake explosion-- the infamous Jim Balent purple costume Catwoman, and then all the non-Big-Two cheesecake heroines... Barb Wire, Lady Rawhide (Zorro in a corset!), Lady Death, Witchblade, Red Sonja, Tarot, etc.

I almost kind of miss cheesecake comics being so high profile, because it was nice to be able to say, "Look, if you want comics that are basically just boob shots on every page, there are all these comics you can buy! We're fine with those being what they are. But *Catwoman* should be something besides boob shots, like maybe she could steal something occasionally..."

Well, Tarot is still running. But yeah, I wouldn't mind the ridiculous soft core porn titles for frat boys if they'd stay the hell out of titles I actually want to read. It's like how I do a little dance every time a creator I dislike ends up either on a creator-owned project or writing a character I don't care about anyway. Now he's less likely to ruin something I'm enjoying.
