Interesting month for Marvel as they're rolling out their new "Now!" line. The angle seems to be "Comic should be fun," with Hulk, Iron Man and Cap all tending towards adventure titles rather then Noir, A+X rather than AvX, and women everywhere. Look at all those women! Women writing things, women drawing things women leading titles. Okay, so it's no where near parity, and really the total of female-characters leading books is three, but still, on ward and up ward, says I!

INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK #1 - Hulk - Indestructible force more weapon than man. Banner – smartest man alive. Combined they are the Strongest, Smartest Weapon on the planet! And NOW! the INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK is an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

I've never read a Hulk comic in my life, but the adventures of Bruce Banner and Maria Hill? That sounds like something I'd enjoy.

UNCANNY Avengers #2 - What are The Red Skull’s new powers? How did he become the most powerful man on Earth? Can Havok and Thor defeat the spreading influence of Honest John, The Living Propaganda?! Rogue and Scarlet Witch trapped on the Isle of the Red Skull’s S-Men! Wolverine & Captain America: uncover the truth behind the worldwide mutant assassination epidemic!

I'm not horribly interested in this title, but Rogue and Wanda team up? That sounds amazing!

ALL-NEW X-MEN #1 & #2 - It’s a blast from the past as the original five students of Professor X – Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel and Beast – are plucked from the past and brought to the present. But what they find, the state that their future selves are in and the state of Xavier’s dream, is far from the future they dreamed of. And how will the X-Men of the present deal with their past coming crashing forward?

Hey, Jean Grey is kinda sorta alive! Go her! Probably won't read this, but fun idea. I love time travel.

IRON MAN #1 - Tony Stark—Iron Man: Technological visionary, wealthy playboy, unparalleled engineer, and armored Avenger. His greatest invention becomes his greatest mistake. The bad news is the art is by Greg Land :( However, I might have to snag this anyway, even if Tony didn't invent the Extremis. From the interviews I've been reading, this looks like a fun comic, and a nice reset of the character back to the Ellis run.

A+X #2 - Spider-Man and Beast fight zombies in a story by Kaare Andrews (AVX: VERSUS)! Iron Man, Kitty Pryde and Lockheed fight the Brood in a story by Peter David and your favorite artist!

See, this is what I want to read. All the heroes getting along and fighting something else, not all the heroes fighting each other.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 - Thrust into a bizarre, inhospitable world far from home, the all-new, high-adventure, mind-melting, tough-as-nails, sci-fi, pulp-fantasy era of Captain America is NOW! With no country and no allies, what’s left for the Sentinel of Liberty to protect? The Saga of Dimension Z begins here!

This looks hilarious, and I will absolutely buy it even if I don't care for the art. I've missed Cap having actual fun.

DEADPOOL #1-2 - Dead former United States presidents, from George Washington to Gerald Ford have been resurrected, and that’s BAD. The Marvel heroes can’t be the ones to stop them, someone is needed with the reputation, skills and plausible deniability to take out these com-monsters in chiefs...NOW! is the time for Deadpool… In Wade We Trust!

This may be the perfect Deadpool plot. I wonder if they'll have Cable though.

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE #9 - Two scientists. Two giant egos. One wears a tank. One is a tank. Tony Stark and Bruce Banner are SCIENCE BROS! When a fellow bigbrain goes missing, wanna bet who can find him first? It’s Amazing Race, Avengers-style, as Iron Man and Hulk form their teams and embark on a global manhunt with the ultimate prize at stake…bragging rights!

Kelly Sue DeConnick takes over Avengers Assemble. I'm totally getting this, especially as it's fast adventure stories with a rotating teamline up and more than one woman on the team.

NEW AVENGERS #33 - A Sorcerer Supreme ascends! Who will be the new master of marvel magic? And what sacrifice will they have to make to achieve such power? An explosive end chapter to one of Marvel’s longest running stories!

Blah blah whatever comics... Wait! Is that Doctor Voodoo on the cover? Is Bendis going to bring him back? He'll probably be evil, but hope springs eternal.

ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN #17 - With the nation at war, young Spider-Man heeds the call of Super Hero duty! The secret connection between Miles Morales and Spider-Woman revealed?
ULTIMATE COMICS ULTIMATES #18 - It’s the Ultimates’ final stand against Hydra on American soil! Thor’s startling choice: America or Asgard? The last temptation of Captain America with the country in the balance!

Still looking forward to this event.

CAPTAIN AMERICA AND BLACK WIDOW #639 - Cap and Black Widow face Lizard-Ock! Chased by a super-powered kill squad, Cap and Widow jaunt through the multiverse! The stage is set for a final assault against Venemma Multiversal!

I suspect that's the end of this line. It sounds like they're wrapping up. It was a fun ride.

CAPTAIN MARVEL #7 - Captain Marvel goes head to head with… Captain Marvel? Former Captain, Monica Rambeau returns! But what’s her problem with the Earth’s Mightiest Hero? Find out why Captain Marvel is the most talked about series of the year!

Is anyone else reading this? Wasn't the second issue fun? Also MONICA! I hope they only have a fight cute and then team up. Also MONICA! She needs to be in more titles.

DAREDEVIL #20 - Daredevil’s newest threat, The Coyote, is not what Matt expects. Say Goodbye to NYC, Matt Murdock.

The current arc has me on the edge of my seat. Will Matt and Foggy make up? I WANT TO KNOW NOW!

RED SHE-HULK #59 - Red She-Hulk’s war on ALL superhumans continues! Captain America has no choice but to hunt her down! Will the newly redesigned X-51 need to use lethal force against her?

Not hugely interested in Betty, but hey, look! Captain Marvel has a friend! Marvel has doubled its female-led titles.

JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #646 - She may be a “Lady,” but girly ain’t her style! Known by many names: lover of Thor, sister of Heimdall, defender of Asgard...Sif is the ultimate faithful...sidekick?! Wait, no, I mean tripled. Sif now has her own title, as written by Kathryn Immonan. Awesome.

I'm like one of those Stormwatch people who only reads for the canon m/m pairings (well, and Jenny, and Swift, and Angie). Weaponized? What? Who cares? KYLE AND NORTHSTAR!

Let's talk about covers on this series.
#1: It starts out well enough, with out heroes jumping into a new world looking ready for a fight.
#2: Peej on her hands and knees screaming in pain as an evil robot death rays here. Helena in the background trying to shoot the robot.
#3: Peej struggles to slow down a burning fighter jet before it crashes into a city, pained expression on her face. Helena hanging from a building in the foreground, cryng out in alarm, unable to help.
#4: Peej blasts a fire monster between the eyes. Helena strugles to free herself from its clutches and shoot it as well.
#5: Peej cries out in distress as robot tentacles wrap around her wrist and ankle and she is caught in the blast of a robot death ray. No Helena.
#0: Another nice ass kicking shot. I approve.
#6: No Peej. Helena grimaces in pain and falls back as Damian Wayne hits her in the face with his quarterstaff.

Anyone wondering why I'm not buying this title?

I was going to say, wasn't that Maya? That is hopefully just a solicit mistake. . .I don't think Gillen would screw that up.

I'm adoring Captain Marvel, and can't wait for her to take on/team up with Monica. Also the first Batwoman issue w/ Wonder Woman was GORGEOUS -- I forget how special JH3 is as an artist, b/c some of the fill-ins can superficially ape his style (and don't get me wrong, they've all been good) but the amount that he has going on within a single page is breathtaking.

I'm sure it's just a copy error. The whole first arc is an Ellis tribute, in content, format and the fact that Ellis is the villain.

CM is the best. That whole last issue was just fantastic. I'm really looking forward to Monica.

JH3 is fantastic. I hope he doesn't burn out drawing and writing. He obviously puts so, so much work into his art. I did like Reeder too, and am sad she's gone.

I'm loving Captain Marvel! As of this second issue, it's officially my favorite Marvel book, edging out Daredevil by a very tiny hair. I can't wait to see what DeConnick does with Avengers Assemble. She clearly knows how to tell a rollicking adventure yarn.

I'm also greatly looking forward to being able to read an Iron Man book again.

I think DD is still my favourite just because I'm super invested in it, and I haven't had the time with Carol's comic. It'll probably be my favourite in a couple of months. I'm definitely getting AA. I'm not really sure about Cap or IM, as Art :(

I'll be in town in November, and may wait to get a looksee rather than putting them on my list just now.

I think I can put up with bad art if the writing is good. At least I'll give it a try.

Honestly, there's so much bad art in Marvel right now, I think I'm growing immune to it. Though both DD and Captain Marvel have pleased on me on that front, too.

I hope Indestructible Hulk gets good art. Maria Hill has had some really awful art over the years, she deserves better.

I put up with a lot of bad art, but Land is almost on principle at this point :)

DD has had universally fantastic art, never has a book been so bless. Cap and Black Widow is also set to have someone amazing.

Hulk has Lentil Yu wrinkles nose. The previews I've seen aren't completely awful, but he does tend to zombiefy his subjects a bit.
